    Baby washington

She's still with us, but retired? She as a major influence on Dusty Springfield and was cutting soulful songs long before Aretha Franklin.

She's 72 years old. It was good to hear that the voice had not changed much here:

I don't think she's retired, although I don't know for sure. I saw her a few years back at Joe's Pub, on a bill with Maxine Brown. Both of them put on a very good show.

Indeed, Baby can be seen here in the New York area & she is quite sweet & still can belt one out with the best of them. I wish for her more shows to display her talents because she certainly deserves it.

Love me some Baby Washington. My favorite is "For Only Those in Love". I have a cute story about her; told it once here but I'll tell it again. Saw her about 10 years ago at the Dell in Philly where she was on the show with Pookie Hudson & the Spaniels, The Jive Five and Harvey Fuqua and the Moonglows. While singing, her top dentures slipped and she laughingly apologized to the audience. She was still great!
