Which Music Company owns the Vee Jay and Duke-Peacock masters?

Does Universal control or own the to masters Vee Jay and Duke -Peacock any longer. I'm pretty sure Uni owns the Duke-Peacock masters. But I'd like to know why releases on these labels are so skimpy? There's a wealth of gospel music on Peacock that has long been neglected and is just as important as Motown; the same with Vee Jay. I'm looking for copies of the duets album by Jerry Butler and Betty Everett and can't find anything digital.

If I'm not mistaken, Collectors Choice Music owns the VJ catalogue. But again, I could be wrong.

Collectables released the Butler-Everetts duet album on a 2-for-1 with a solo Butler album. But that was a while back.

    I've seen it. It's almost $40.00.

Gosh, I didn't pay that much when I bought the album in a used records store.

All one has to do is Google it and you'll get your answer. From Wikipedia:
Under the management of Michele Tayler, the company was reactivated in 1998 as The Vee-Jay Limited Partnership. Its main office is located in Redding, Connecticut.

Yeah, but I don't think that it explains who distributes its back catalogue. That's why I scrolled down further.

Years ago, before the surge in funky/soul gospel began, I was involved with a Peacock comp that never came to fruition. You can read about it, listen or download it here.

A problem that we had when trying to get the OK for trax was that if they did not have paperwork that said they had the rights, they would not license. So if paperwork went missing, they didn't want to take the chance of a lawsuit. A shame....

Well, They don't seem to have an exclusive distribution deal right now. it's just licensed to whatever company is interested. For example, Collector's Choice issued a Gene Chandler comp, and they had to cross license from other labels as well. SHOUT! Factory distributed their boxed set. Better Everett has been reissued by other companies.

I didn't see any indication that suggest otherwise. But like I said, I could be wrong.

Universal own the Duke/Peacock/Back Beat catalogue . I recall reading a few years ago that Ace/Kent met with Daryl Easley of Universal UK about the possibility of licencing some product in the UK.

Unfortunately it never went anywhere because the legal trail was so confusing. Universal had , of course inherited the labels from ABC-Dunhill and it was a nightmare working out what was owned by whom. The other issue was that in the USA the parent company just didn't see the commercial value of the Duke-Peacock labels. Basically the idea petered out before it could kick into life.
