Scam emails

Take no notice of any emails you might receive suggesting that Ralph has been mugged and needs you to pay his London hotel bill. He is not in London, has not been mugged, and is unlikely to head his email 'My Plight', although I'm sure we can all hear him saying it -not.

Furher eveidence that it is a scam comes from the fact that I was in touch with him in California only last night.

And the clincher is that this is the third identical email we've had from various friends over the last 12 months. Somebody m,ust be even stupider than the scammers, judging by the fact they are still in business - and still using the same unconvincing story.

I got one this morning at 7:15 central time. I sent Ralph a notification through SDF. Maybe his mail account has been hacked ?

I also received these e mails. I deleted them and came and logged in here to see what was up. I thought it sounded a little fishy. Thanks for the heads up guys.

So it appears I've been hacked. Dave, I picked up your phone message. I've also got phone calls from Marcus Terry's daughter, John Rhys Eddins, Mike McLean, and my old friend in Detroit, Tom Pettit. At least I'm re-connecting with good friends.
I don't have a clue how to straighten this mess out. Any suggestions?

I got the same mail, and replied telling "you" to call me ... got back the same message as Dave Clegg above, and got suspicious ... then I looked here ...

Good ol' SDF!!

You need to get in touch with gmail ... you can get to Gmail Help without signing in. Select "Privacy And Security", then on the next screen select "My account has been compromised". On the next screen, select "I cannot sign in". You're on your own after that, but I imagine you'll get some swift action. They have a rep to protect.

I'd have loaned you $2,250 like a shot - if I had it!

Last week, an email account of one of my colleagues was hacked, and a similar message was sent to people in her address book. I believe she got in touch with her email provider, explained what happened, and was told that she needed to change her password more frequently.

I got the same e-mail this morning. I would bet that someone hacked into your Facebook page. I'd bet that all of the people that received e-mails from you are on your friends list. I am so glad that this was cleared up.

I got an e-mail Ralph this morning about this, I replied to them that we knew it was a scam & to 'f**k off & that the police have been informed and they will knocking on their door very soon!!! lol! .... they have not replied!!

I've received the same scam e-mail too. However the sender was miarezendes@sbcglobal.net.

Might as well add me to the list, too. I read it, thought it was done by someone who knows English about as well as I know Korean. Besides, it came from "Mia Rezendes". I've got an alias....actually, an air name....but I CAN picture me as Doug Morgan. Ralph I Can NOT picture as a "Mia".

Two emails came to the private email account that is not used for this board. A note was sent to Ralph from that account on another matter a while ago. Nothing has been received through the account used for SD. This probably decreases the likelihood that the SD server has been compromised.

I'm sorry that any of us has experienced any inconvenience or bother, but the intrigue surpasses all the hi-camp drama of TT and his exploits.

The best thing about the address is that it is for the Security Industry Authority, the body that regulates the private security industry, and reports direct to the Home Secretary. Now I know that the government is making cutbacks, but are they really that short of of cash? LOL
