Bert Weedon was one of the main popularising influences for the electric guitar in Britain - certainly for its adoption by the new 'beat groups' of the fifties and early sixties - but, although he recorded with many star names, including Sinatra, and had numerous hits of his own, he will be best remembered for his music manual that taught you to 'play guitar in a day'. Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton and and a host of others started out with Bert's handy guide.

He was an icon of the new music and well deserves his place in history.
