Gladys Knight May Star As Fictional President's Mom In New TV Show

Just read that Gladys Knight is working on a scripted TV show.

She has been cast to star in a show called "The First Family" ... about a fictional President of the United States who's juggling work with his family life. Gladys will play the President's mother.

The project is already garnering interest from a major network ... which has made it clear they want to rush production to capitalize on Gladys' current momentum on DWTS.

Byron Allen is the Executive Producer of "First Family". Sounds interesting. Hope it comes off. She was in a sitcom years ago with Flip Wilson and she was good.

The sitcom you were alluring to was "Charlie and Company." Gladys came off better than Flip, as she seemed more comfortable in the genre than he was. The times Flip really shined was when he was pitted against a antagonistic foil, in this case Della Reese in a recurring role as a combative realtive.
