DETROIT [[WJBK) - "I don't know where I would go if I couldn't go to the police station," said Rebecca Ornsby.

She was not happy after learning that starting Monday, January 9th, she will no longer be able to walk into the Eastern District to talk to an officer.

Every Detroit Police precinct will be closed to the public from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. The doors will be locked and residents will be forced to call a hotline to report their crime.

"I've got a PPO out on somebody … and I know if I had a problem, I'd want to be able to actually talk to an officer not somebody on the phone," Ornsby said.

Days before the new year, every Detroit Police officer received a memo outlining huge organizational changes expected to put more officers on the streets.
