Fox musical dramedy dips along with ‘Parenthood’

Glee might have squealed over the boosted ratings for last week’s controversial episode, in which two couples had sex for the first time, but this week the Fox show is likely singing a different tune.

The ratings for Tuesday’s episode are in, and according to EW.com, it was the least-watched instalment of the show’s third season.

“Mash Off” netted 7.1 million viewers and a 2.9 rating among adults 18-49, which is a six per cent fall from the previous week. In it, the New Directions and the newly formed Troubletones engaged in a heated singing competition.

Meanwhile, NBC’s Parenthood also slipped to its lowest numbers of its third season, taking in five million viewers [[a tenth fewer than the previous week) and grabbing a 1.9 rating.

The winner of the night – unsurprisingly – was CBS’s marine crime procedural NCIS, which grabbed 19.9 million viewers and a 4.0 rating for the second instalment of its sweeps offerings, "Engaged [[Part II)."

Logging in next was a pair of shows that snagged 15 million viewers apiece: CBS’s NCIS: Los Angeles [[3.3 rating) and ABC’s Dancing With the Stars [[2.7 rating), which dropped four per cent.

Following those were CBS’s Poppy Montgomery freshman drama Unforgettable [[11.2 million, 2.4), ABC’s Dana Delany drama Body of Proof [[9.8 million, 2.1), and the Alphabet’s Tim Allen freshman comedy Last Man Standing [[9 million, 2.6).

Body of Proof had the biggest ratings jump since its last original episode – it leapt 11 per cent.

Next up was Fox’s Zooey Deschanel freshman comedy New Girl [[6.9 million, 3.5). And rounding out the night were a pair of shows grabbing 6.2 million viewers apiece – ABC’s comedy Man Up [[1.7 rating) and NBC’s long-in-the-tooth weight loss show The Biggest Loser [[2.1 rating).

Loser, now in its 12th season, was – aptly – the ratings loser of the night, down 13 per cent from the previous episode.

In last place among the four major networks was Fox’s sophomore comedy Raising Hope, which managed to scrounge up 4.8 million viewers and a 2.2 rating.

Over on The CW, 90210 took in 1.6 million viewers [[0.7 rating) and Ringer wrangled 1.9 million [[also a 0.7 rating). On the bright side, though, the 90210 episode was the most-watched instalment of the season.
