    SDF's Popularity

I just noticed the forum set a new record last Sunday for most people
on the site at once. Nice!!! I just checked the Alexa website [[internet's
version of Neilson), and SDF is ranked as the 329,190th most visited website
in the USA. It ranked 1,161,874 worldwide.

Not bad considering the MILLIONS of sites out there.

    Many thanks for that, ajk93!

That feels like being on Motown's A-list!

I,for one, am quietly very happy just to be a tiny part of it all.....

Tamla - I would bet that a lot of the lurkers are actually members who read the forum without signing in. I don't sign in unless I'm going to post on a thread that interests me.

I'll bet a little porn and politics would boost the popularity of this site.

Porn would do it for sure.

Politics we sort of had and it appeared to attract only a few of us.

I often don't sign in either........so I could be a lurker; and if I sign in, I often read for a minute or two and have to go back to work.

I thoroughly enjoy SD. However I do think we need to make a concentrated effort to re-attract some people that have left that actually have some Motown connections; they were such valuable additions; I'll name three of them - John Lester, Motown Fan and Kamasu.

When you have people with connections, it gives the Forum more credibility.

We still have it, but it seems no one really wants to stir things up in that direction, even though there are tons of things currently going on that would do so...like, uh...Herman Cain....HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always stay logged in. That way I don't have to re-enter my password every time.

I approve many new members each week and it surprises me that I see but a few of them posting. This has always puzzled me.

Many people initially sign up for forums because they think they may want to post, or see stuff that is unavailable to non-members, but then never really do post.

278 active members; that must mean they posted in the last 30 days or so; I do notice that if things get too ridiculous on a few threads, that number declines a bit; it did recently rise for a while but has now declined again.

I have always wondered if anyone has told Bette Lavette about being on the front of the forum.

I find it most odd that while the number of people posting when things get out of hand may drop, but the views of those posts are viewed more than 3 or 4 times as much as some pretty good threads.

What that suggests, I really don't know but I guess it's similar to the rubber-necking which occurs following a car crash. Innately you know that you shouldn't enjoy watching it, but something inside of you compels you to do so.

Either way, in good times & in bad times, I've always loved SDF & hope that it continues to grow & be even more informative as it has been.

Some of the Lurkers were former members that lost password. Found my 2003 posts, but couldn't remember password. Now I got something for the collectors, and tried my old pw and was locked out. Time was not on my side...
