    Thumbs up Motown Original Artist Karaoke Question

    Can someone provide a list of the complete set, with Volume # and title? I'm trying to figure out what I'm missing, and some of them do not include the volume number.

    I was slow to discover these, and it is such a thrill to listen to them! I'm discovering back-up vocals I never even knew were there... and I listen to a split version, switch the headphones, and listen again [[maybe I'm nuts, but I think there are major differences when I send each track to the other side of my brain).

    Thanks, Andy, for the whole new plot twist on my favorite music.

    exparisguy, you can get started here:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...CD3DRY8J0A8GFD

    If I remember correctly there are 17 volumes of original tracks out there. I have quite a few of them. I play the rhythm section tracks a lot.

    I hope they decide to revive the series and release some more instrumental gems of the hits. Such instrumentals like the ones listed below need to be included if they revive the series:

    - Mercy Mercy Me [[The Ecology)
    - I'm In A Different World
    - Forever Came Today

    - In And Out Of Love
    - Baby Don't You Do It
    - Truly Yours
    - My Baby Loves Me
    - Beauty Is Only Skin Deep
    - Take Me In Your Arms [[Rock Me A Little While) **Kim Weston's version**

    I hope so too. You have a fine playlist for two additional CDs! Would especially love to hear 7 Rooms of Gloom [[how many other songs have a soul/funk/classical harpsichord riff?) and Up the Ladder to the Roof [[just because it is a song I adore).

    I'm not into Karaoke at all... but these are the original songs, and there are two versions of each:
    • The first version of the song has the vocals on one channel and the instrumental backing track on the other. You can hear the lead vocal much more clearly. In some cases [[like The Happening) Diana's lead vocal is on one channel and the instrumental backing plus the back up vocals are on the other. So if you want, you can turn off one channel and hear the lead vocal all by itself.
    • The second version of the song excludes the lead vocal... so you have the Funk Brothers and the back-up vocals in all their glory. I've noticed back-up riffs and instruments I never noticed [[despite hearing the original song at least several thousand times)!

    If you look at the back of the cd case to the right of the barcode, you will see a small capital G followed by 4 digits perpendicular to all other information listed.
    G8851= Dancing In the Street
    G8852= ABC
    G8855= Let's Get It On
    Volume 18= Motown Christmas Classics

    These CDs are totally different to any other Motown releases because you are ...by use of left / right balance ...able to isolate just the lead singer's vocal ...or listen to the Funk's superb backing tracks ...again ...in isolation

    ...play them on your DVD player ...and many have graphics and lyrics too...!

    You can find them WAY cheaper. For example: Volume 7 on amazon:
    1 new from $135.74
    5 used from $50.00

    The price on shop.com for almost all of them is between $12.99 and $15.95. I ordered several through pocket songs, and they arrived in just a few days.

    Not a bad singer at all! Pity he didn't try to hit the high note in the last chorus.

    Another fantastic gem:
