Who is old enough to remember this little gem, written by Smokey way back in[1961] with Ms Mary Wilson on lead, no it wasn't a hit but it's such a groove today it's one of the rare songs in Motown history, and a very rare lead from Mary!

One does not have to be a Senior Citizen to remember this. You are overlooking one thing about the release. It was originally recorded in 1961, however, it was not released until the 1986 album release, Never-Before-Released-Masters from Motown's Brightest Stars, the 1960's. Simply put it sat in the vault for 25 years before it was actually released to the public and via a special Motown album featuring these never-before-released songs.
Personally, I especially like this specific song that you started the thread about.
No i'm not overlooking it, haaaaaaaaa how do you think i found it? Being a senior myself i mostly assume that youngsters aren't gonna be interested, but i'm glad that you too dig this gem.
But do note that on that album cover, credit is to "Diana Ross and the Supremes" instead of just "The Supremes". Motown was renaming all Supremes songs "Diana Ross and.." for these 80s reissues, even if the were released before the renaming in 1967. Mary is not even given lead vocal credit on the back cover! [[I have the LP not the CD so this could have been corrected on it later).
I have no knowledge of a CD ever being released for this great collection. If someone has one, please let the public know, I would buy one post haste.
One additional comment for what it is worth. I really enjoy and listen to often the Stay In My Lonely Arms song that included in the album. That was from 1967 and I truly believe that could have been a great success sales wise as it is a great recording in my opinion.
That was annoying. I was buying cassettes during my early fandom and it ticked me off so bad that releases like I Hear a Symphony and Supremes A GoGo were credited to DRATS. I took a black marker and blocked out "Diana Ross And" on the covers and side titles. One of the worst ones to me was a comp called You Keep Me Hangin On with a photo of Flo, Diana and Mary in the gold swirl gowns. Tracks that I can recall were the title cut, "A Breath Taking Guy", "Long Gone Lover", "You Bring Back Memories" and the kicker: "Over and Over". I'm like how are they gonna credit this to DRATS with a Jean track? Of course that last bit was my outrage after it took me quite some time to figure out that it was in fact Jean singing the lead and not Diana.![]()
Just thought about it, but I didn't have WDOLG either, so "Long Gone Lover" was another reason to buy it. Ah, the good old days.
Someone is selling it on ebay for nearly nine bucks. Lol

Holy moly!!! I did EXACTLY the same thing. I ruined a rare CD [Never Before Released Masters] and the single disc reissues of "Greatest Hits" Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 doing that. I still have them but eventually replaced them with the pristine ones.
And it STILL annoys me to this day! I don't care about "Diana Ross and" vs. "The Supremes" for the fan war aspect. It's the historical accuracy that annoyed me. Funny thing was that it was accurate for Greatest Hits 1 and 2 to be "Diana Ross and". I guess I was exacting revenge for the inaccuracy of the previous releases. Stupid, nonetheless.
