    The Soul Children

I just love the lp's by this dynamic, multi-lead-vocal group. Great, consistent albums and performances. Does anyone have any first-hand memories of The Soul Children, meaning attendance at live performances or real-time viewing of tv appearances? I recall "Heresay" as a big AM soul-station hit here in the NYC metro area, but not much more -

Soul Children were great. I saw them LIVE on a big show that starred Tyrone Davis at the Orlando Sports Stadium. "I'll Be The Other Woman" was their big hit at the time, I know they did "Hearsay" & "The Sweeter He Is" & "I'll Understand".I don't ever remember them being on TV. I loved their record "Finders Keepers" but SHelbra Bennett was gone from the group by then.

    Hi!

One of the best - if not the best! - soul music concerts I've attended was at the Pori Jazz festival in 2008 with William Bell and the Soul Children.
All the artists kindly granted me interviews:

    The Soul Children - https://www.soulexpress.net/soulchildren.htm
    and
    William Bell - https://www.soulexpress.net/williambell.htm

    Best regards

They performed at Wattstax but didn't make the final cut of the film. A shame as their performance of Hearsay is a hoot.

I remember seeing them at the howard back in the day, and they were always good.

Thanks to all for your comments. The Soul Children are still wonderful & uplifting albums to listen to and I encourage those unfamiliar to give them a spin. Sure wish I had attended that show, Heikki!

Thank you for your kind words, PeaceNHarmony!

With William Bell I had the pleasure of meeting also later, but - in terms of the Soul Children - the passing of J. Blackfoot only three years later, in 2011, was a big shock for me.

    Best regards
    Heikki
