Marvelettes Smash Hits Of 62 labels

I have a copy of the marveletts sing and recently got the smash hits of 62 with white labels. However, I realized that even first pressings of this album has the marvelettes sing on the label and not smash hits of 62. does anyone know why this is? Could the marvelettes sing title always haven been planned?

the original title was "The Marvelettes Sing the Top Hits of 1962. Later pressings were just the Marvelettes Sing.

I meant on the actual center label itself.

Not just the record labels either - the back cover was the same.

    Original cover - June 1962

    Revised cover - 1962 or 1963?

According to BSNPUBS the second cover was introduced in November 1963. That would make more sense since they removed the reference to 1962 from the front cover. They also made it look more like "The Crystals Sing The Greatest Hits" which had at least one song in common and a bit of a twist theme. Motown v Phil Spector.

I prefer the original 1962 version since the black one looks cheap and obviously contains a mis-print.

I would assume the removal of Sing Hits of 1962 would be removed going into 1963 so as to not make the album seem less contemporary? Who knows, Motown was in it infancy
