Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell-'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' [with Vandelux] [Motown]

    Info from The SecondDisc.com.
A new take on what may be Motown's greatest duet, released in honor of what would have been Tammi Terrell's 80th birthday on April 29. The minimalist remix by Vandelux - an
unlikely Canadian musician who traded in a career as the COO of a hedge fund to follow his passion - features a percussion loop derived from unique elements on the isolated tracks, including Marvin Gaye's rhythmic foot stomping.

Now streaming on iTunes & Amazon Music.

Not for me - no way Jose. My opinion - and it's only an opinion [[so dont shoot me) is that 60's music should stay mixed as was in the 60's this doesn't float my boat at all

It's been mixed to the limit already - my preferred version is the extended stereo mix on The Motown Box. That one glistens along and I'll stick with it.

    No, ma'am.

I am so glad that Universal has recently taken such a strong stand, by viciously protecting its copyrights. This has included its outright refusal to license most of its catalogue for reissues of classic albums. I'm also glad it has continued to withhold unreleased material. It is doing a great job of protecting Motown's musical legacy, by sitting on the figurative toilet. Not only did they fire their long-time vault manager, but they also put their own master tapes in a literal fire. I'm glad it's done all of these things, to focus on what matters most...like pumping out the occasional remix that strips the original song of any resemblance to Motown. Oh, I should not forget that they do put out the occasional Marvin Gaye album.

Good job, Universal! This remix is what we wanted all along and it will bring in new fans!! Thank you for focusing on what's most important, like this remix!

    NOT!!!!

How could they take such a perfect song and make it, well...boring? At least to me it is!

I've said it before, and I'll repeat it again. No one should ever, EVER mess with Motown. NEVER!!!

  8. #8
No, no, no, no, no from me!

  9. #9
No, no, no, no, no from me too!

Now consider this. Universal [or any big media company] wants the services of some particular remixer, considered by some, as a hot "in-demand" remixer with a lot of current street-cred. Why? To help chart "new" product on... [insert the name of any "new" artist here]. So, the big media company dangles a carrot in front of selected hot remixer. Come remix these tracks on [insert name, as above] and we'll let you remix [here comes the carrot]... a classic track of your choice.

    Deal done.

A totally unnecessary abomination of a classic Motown song.

  11. #11
How come they never remix Willie Tyler and Lester?

  12. #12
I wish Universal had been as protective of all the masters they hoarded as they are with their music copyright claims, but that's another topic.

    repulsive.
