Terrence Howard Turned Down Marvin Gaye Biopic

Terrence Howard Turned Down Marvin Gaye Biopic Because He Didn’t Want to Kiss a Man: “I Would Cut My Lips Off”

On Bill Maher's podcast, Terrence Howard said that he asked another celebrity if Marvin was gay, and when he was told that he was, Terrance turned down the role.

Maher asked, “You mean you couldn’t kiss a guy on screen in a movie?”

Howard replied, “No. Because I don’t fake it.”

“That would fuck me,” Howard added. “I would cut my lips off. If I kissed some man, I would cut my lips off.”

Not much of an actor, then is he? When he was killing people on EMPIRE, I thought that he was just acting. But now he is telling us that when he does a role, he doesn't fake it. So my assumption is that he went out and practiced by killing a few people before taking the role.

It's not such a bad thing if he were to cut off his lips. That would stop him from doing more podcasts like this

Marvin Gaye never publicly came out as gay, so anything that another celebrity told Terrence about Marvin's sexuality is speculation

At 56, Terrence may be too old to be playing Marvin who was 44 when he was killed. But I have seen good actors pull off an old age and a youth age look with good acting and good makeup

Yeah because Quincy Jones is sure a beacon of truth. LOL

God rest his soul though. And Terence is a known friend of P Diddy so... yeah lol

I think it would have been sufficient to say he wouldn’t have done a good job playing a gay man. He sounds like a jerk. He could also have just said nothing.

It's obvious he CAN'T act. Period. LOL

    A few things

    1. Are we still doing this? This seems like an attitude from 30-40 years ago when actors said things like this

"I won't do a role unless I can believe it"

"In your last movie you played a serial killer who ate his victims eyeballs and made balloon animals with their intestines"

    2. This isn't like Elton John or Freddie Mercury who it was well known were gay. Other than that one Quincy Jones comment in that one interview I've never seen or heard anything else about Marvin being gay. I also don't know how widely known the Quincy comment is

And as far as I know there wasn't decades or whispers and rumors surrounding Marvin like there were around say Cary Grant [[or many other actors from Classic Hollywood era for that matter)

Unlike rumors whether or not Marvin and Tammi had a physical relationship, and it wouldn;t bother me one bit if a Marvin biopic didn't bring it up at all

In other words it's very possible [[and expected) to do a Marvin Gaye biopic without this unconfirmed detail [[or rumor) in the film

    You know what's interesting, Optimal?

There has been no video of Terence saying this, it was just something that spread online unless it was a print interview because it came out of left field.

And then I thought to myself: "is the press OUTING Marvin?!"

Because that's what it sounded like! Neither Bill Maher nor Terence Howard have addressed this so we don't know if it really happened or not. He was actually quoted saying "now I am not homophobic but..."

Also, Quincy said this way back in 2018 and I remember a lot of Marvin Gaye fans cussing Quincy out. Remember that photo of a bald Marvin and Quincy backstage after a concert around November 1975? Some folks marked stuff on him. He had to apologize. But the fact that he put it out there gave some gossipers [[and homophobes, let's be honest) some ammo to attack Marvin's reputation.

But yeah, only Quincy said this. Are we sure he wasn't saying that about RICHARD PRYOR, who reportedly was bisexual [[he admitted to gay sex and one time made love to a pre-op transsexual woman both high and sober)? Just weird and bizarre.

I guess Marvin barely makes news anymore so people have to make it up so people look him up. That's the only reason there was all this engagement.
