I enjoyed both articles. While I'm not familiar with Tad Robinson, Carla Benson [along with her group, The Sweethearts of Soul] played a huge role as background singers during the Philly Soul Era of the '70s and early '80s. It's great that she's written a book about her work.

    Best always, 'Eddie'

Motown had The Andantes; Phil Spector had The Blossoms; Van McCoy had Faith, Hope & Charity; Barry White had Love Unlimited; Hi Records out of Memphis had Rhodes, Chalmers & Rhodes; and Sigma Sound Studios had the Philly Soul sound of The Sweethearts of Sigma. Those girls [[Barbara Ingram, Carla Benson & Evette Benton) had the sweetest vocal blend this side of Heaven. I knew that Barbara Ingram had died years ago, but I wasn't aware that Evette Benton had also passed away. So glad to learn that Carla Benson is still doin' her thing and sounding every bit as good at it!

Thanks, heikki--Carla's book sounds like a must-have. I had the pleasure of seeing Carla and "The Sweeties" back Patti LaBelle live in concert several times in the '80s.
