He was the son of a legend who absolutely carved his own path to greatness in the musical world. Today we mourn the passing of Beau Dozier, son of Motown legend Lamont Dozier and noted musician, songwriter and producer. He was just 45.
Raised in Los Angeles in a household where melodies flowed as freely as conversation, Dozier developed an ear for hooks and harmonies at an early age. By the time he hit his teens, he was already making waves in the industry, landing his first major production credits in the late ’90s. His breakthrough came in the early 2000s when he co-wrote and produced smash hits like “Truth Is” for Fantasia and “Beep” for the Pussycat Dolls.
