    Shorty Long - History

It's been great to see recent interest shown in Shorty Long, multi instrumentalist Motown star. Not very much seems to be known about him so it may be useful to start a thread to share research on Shorty in general.

We know that Shorty was Frederick Earl Long, born 20 May 1940 and sadly died on 29 June 1969.

Through genealogical resources I've found the following -

    Shorty's mother was
Mozelle Thelma Haney [[later Long [[1939) then Sanders [[1949)) - probable dates for birth and death are as follows but these need proper confirmation -
    born – 3 May 1923 [[tbc) / Died 11 December 2008 [[tbc).

    Mozelle married
Perry Richard Long on 10 June 1939. Shorty's dad was
born 16 June 1919 - parents E.G. Long and Amy Martha Madden.
He was drafted for military service on 16 October 1940. So this was not long after Shorty was born and sadly during World War II. No date of death found for Perry Richard Long as yet.

    Mozelle then re-married
Coleman Sanders on 30 March 1949. Coleman was
born 9 February 1912 - parents Ian Sanders and Florence Allen. Coleman
    died 11 May 1979.

Mozelle's parents were John Haney and Minnie [[Thomas / Bradford / Haney)
She had at least one brother John Henry Haney Jnr - 1925-1985. Minnie [[Shorty's Grandma) was born 9 March 1888 and died 12 November 1953.

In the 1950 Census - 10 April 1950- we have
Minnie Haney aged 62 [[head) widowed
    Mozelle Haney aged 26 [[daughter)
    Coleman Sanders aged 38 [[son-in-law)
    Frederick Long aged 9 [[grandson)

Clearly there's much more research that could be done. Might be a bit limiting from the UK but all very interesting I think. What else do we have?
