Thanks for posting this Carlo. That was a fun performance! And possibly her last time working with Gil Askey, too.

I remember that Australian tour was well received, and she really rocks out on this song!Perfect for her voice. Curious to see the full quiz show appearance now!

Mary sounds really good here. I think her voice aged much better than Diana’s and many other performers from that era.

At her passing, Mary was one of the few legends left whose voice was still in great shape. I believe I heard Mary say she was always working with a vocal coach. She seemed to have taken pretty good care of herself also, beyond her heart condition, which could have been genetic or maybe the result of her car accident. [[Could've been the stress of life also.)

Meanwhile, I heard Diana say she's never worked with a vocal coach [[although we know that's not completely true, as she worked with one during the Supremes). We also know that Diana abused alcohol, which can affect the voice. She also is consistently singing songs that don't fit her current range. It was sad to read in another thread that people are talking so much about Diana having lost her voice. She hasn't lost it, she just refuses to sing songs that show it off to the best of her current abilities and at this point I don't think she'll ever drop the same old songs and go for something more challenging, yet comfortable for her range.

Great point RanRan79, Diana has been doing the same show for 30 years or more, sure she'll throw in a different song or 2 every once in a while, but it's the same show.

Perhaps all those years as lead singer of the Supremes where her voice was literally worked to death did some long term damage. In concert and on some of those late 60’s recordings she sounds quite hoarse.
I’m not absolutely sure the condition of her voice as of now being you rarely ever get to hear it when not augmented by additional vocals.
