Was really looking forward to this film. Joaquina Kalukango is excellent, as she usually is, but I wish she had a better script to work from. I don't know that much about Gloria Gaynor but I knew the lead into her recording career was wrong. Since everything was in a few lines of dialogue, there was no reason to not get it right. So much glossed over and missing. This really should have been better.

There were two Gloria Gaynor movies in a row. I watched 'em both. I especially enjoyed the first of the two. By the middle of the second one, I was getting bored. [[Or, maybe just tired.)

I enjoyed the Gloria Gaynor documentary that aired from 10PM to midnite. She really lived her song "I Will Survive". I was lucky enuff to see her LIVE at a small disco when she first came out with "Honey Bee".Her small band & her were excellent.

I agree, thommg. I turned the movie off after about 30 mins. As you said, the writing was very weak/corny and the details were glossed over. This seems to be the case with a lot of Lifetime movies, so I wasn't expecting much, going into it. I also liked the actress who played Gloria.

Carlo, I have seen Joaquina Kalukango onstage twice. She is so excellent. I think she made more of the GG script than was there.

I also watched the documentary after the movie, which I enjoyed. I had never heard anything from her Testimony album, but thought the recording sessions were quite interesting. I may buy a copy of it. I'm happy Ms. Gaynor is still in the game at 80 years old!

    I'm envious.

And I hadn't realized she and Diana were of the same age. Gloria was at a late age for breaking into the fame game...especially through disco . Now I'm wondering: between them, who will sing I WILL SURVIVE for the last time last??

I agree, thommg. I will need to look up Joaquina on Instagram. Glad you've been able to enjoy her talents in person

I thought I had Gloria Gaynor's Testimony CD but now I'm not too sure lol. I remember she won a Grammy for it. I didn't stay up to watch the doc, so I'll have to check that out another time.
