Very sad loss. RIP Sam. You will be singing in Heaven with the Angels and long lost partner Dave Prater.

One special memory that I have of Sam and Dave was one night I was hosting a specialty show on the student run station on the Alabama campus. I was having a blast that evening playing all of my favorite soul ballads. In the midst of this, my then girlfriend [[now wife), left me a message on my phone sounding very upset about something. I spent a half hour just playing music, and prerecorded ads. Eventually I had to go back on air to give the station id and when I did I told my listeners “ here’s something from Sam and Dave” and played “When Something is Wrong with my Baby”. It was then that I realized what that song was all about. It sucks when your love is in distress and there’s nothing you can do about it except have sympathy for her.

Thanks for that lesson Sam Moore! Rest well

Sadly that Sam Moore passed away and may he rest in peace.

Both Sam & Dave have always been to two great special shows, it is such a surprise that we have lost Sam. There are over seventy US 45's & Albums both Stax & Volt 1959-1968 and the Stax Album 1966 & Atlantic Albums 1968 from them both. I saw them both a number of times and how great they were.

He has been a great guy I'll miss him, I still have all of the records & I still play them, couldn't stop playing them both on turntable.

    Bless Him!

Why exactly couldn't Sam & Dave get along?

I think every article I've read about them just says that they didn't and barely spoke off stage but none ever say why

Money, drugs, egos the size of Texas, creative differences, etc.

    That's too bad.

I think they didn't get along after Dave shot his girlfriend in the head -she survived. After that Sam told Dave; I'll sing with you, but I won't speak to you.

Wow! I hadn't heard about that. Tragic.
