Al Green is back with new song, "Everybody Hurts"

    Soul Tracks.com:

Al Green is regarded as one of the greatest soul singers of all time, with classics like “Let’s Stay Together,” “Love and Happiness,” and “Tired of Being Alone.” Having a long list of hits that he wrote, it’s of interest what songs he’s chosen to cover. Within the last few years, Green covered Freddy Fender’s “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” [2018] and Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” [2023]. His newest recording is a remake of “Everybody Hurts,” first released by rock band R.E.M. in 1993.

another reach in the hat and pull an oldie out ....

working in Al Green's favor is his iconic voice [and distinct arrangement sound solidly replicated here] and by and large he comes through. Doesn't elevate the sentiments beyond the original imo , but ads his stamp to it. Sounding more like Ray Charles than Otis Redding these days. Its Al Green - how bad can it be....

Begs the question hasn't any song come out in the last 10 [20?] years that anybody wants to re-bother with??

[it must be pretty good I've listened to it a half dozen times now]
