It was a wonderful afternoon at Hitsville USA today for the special "My Girl" immersive tours. A very special thanks to Paul Riser for being there to share his experiences working on the song, it was really something to be sitting in Studio A with a man who was an integral part of the team who gave the world "My Girl". I was lucky that I got to sit right in front of Paul and was witness to his reactions as Motown Museum digital curator Drew Schultz played isolated tracks of voices, strings, etc. When they played the isolated orchestral track Mr. Riser just closed his eyes and took it all in, occasionally his hands moving as if he was directing. It was an emotional moment for me thinking to myself, THIS man created this arrangement and here I am listening to it along with him.

I will tell the membership you are all in for a treat when the remastered song is released. We were given a listen and all I can say is WOW! You will hear things that you were never able to hear before, even though they were always present in the recording. And as you may have heard Otis's comment on the newly remastered song, you can hear each man's voice so clearly, it's really something.

It was great to take the tour with fellow SDF member nsoule and meet another Motown collector from Holland. Here are a few photos to share with the forum. I hope you enjoy them.

The 3rd photo is when we were listening to the isolated orchestral track and Paul has his eyes closed just taking it all in. While I know we were there today to celebrate "My Girl", I took a copy of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" for Paul to sign as it's without a doubt my favorite arrangement of his. The beginning of the long version can choke me up every time I listen to it. Just pure perfection!
