This man's global cultural impact cannot be overstated. He was the closest thing we had to a Duke Ellington still walking among us. Love the way he kicked in the doors of music executive suites and Hollywood corner offices all the while making little boys who looked like him see themselves in his music and example as limitless, powerful and ultra cool. Well done, Q-- rest in power.

I also read one of Boobie Brownz sons died.
A huge loss to the World ...I've loved everything I've heard by him from the 50s to the present day ...and have most of what he produced ...God bless you Quincy

Rest In Peace Quincy Jones. Thank you for the music.
I just read an AP news article where one of the bigger selling songs he was involved with was from 1963 - It's My Party by Lesley Gore. I probably knew that at the time but it slipped my mind.
Everyone knows his involvement with MJ but that was after Motown.
It just dawned on me that he was involved with a Motown artist. In 1972 Mowest released MW 5029 She Said That and there was another unissued MW single; but there was MW album MW 0017 from 7/72 entitled Someplace Else Now.
The article went on to mention that Quincy worked with Stevie Wonder to record an anti-drug song in 1987.
Some interesting thoughts on the great Quincy Jones.
Quincy Jones did produce Lesley Gore's first five LPs [and their hit singles] during Jones' stint as Vice President with Mercury Records in the early '60s. Quincy also produced three tracks on Leslie's final Mercury LP, California Nights. Lesley's Someplace Else Now LP for Motown's Mowest label was produced by Joe Porter with no involvement from Jones. Quincy's last production work with Leslie Gore came with the Love Me By Name LP from 1976 on A&M Records.

One of the best of all Quincy Jones it is so sad in his passing away aged Ninety One.
A great Quincy's orchestra along with Roberta Flack & Marvin and many others from Motown, many others also involved for the 1973 "Save The Children" A documentary concert held as part of Jesse Jackson's "Operation PUSH" . I kept all of the "Save The Children" back in 73 and how much I loved it.
Thanks to Quincy Jones and many others "People United To Serve Humanity". Just one of the many incredible songs he did so many. May he rest.
