Another AXS Survey---This time Sinatra makes it to Number One

Just watched another of their surveys..........Top 10 Crooners.

I did not write them down in order but Sinatra came out on top this time. Dean Martin was number two, which I found mildly surprising.

The others in whatever order were Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Sammy Davis, Jr., Andy Williams, Bobby Darin, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, and the guy who came in at number 10 that I would not necessarily call a crooner.....Tom Jones.

Any thoughts on that assortment? As you can see, they concentrated on the classic ones and did not try to get into modern times, such as Buble.

As i was watching it, I was sure that Johnny Mathis would make the cut. But maybe for some reason the voters or whoever organized this did not consider him a crooner in the usual sense.

Bobby Darin, a crooner? I would have never thought that of him. But obviously people have different interpretations of a crooner. My earliest acquaintance with Bobby Darin was Splish Splash. That just doesn't seem to fit the situation.

Splish Splash introduced him to the charts. But hits like Mack the Knife, Artificial Flowers, Beyond the Sea would be considered crooning. Bobby's idol was Sinatra and Bobby had dreams of outshining him and tried. I'm surprised that none of Bobby's album covers did not have him standing under a lamp post with a hat on
