Motown 1455 - Pops, We Love You - 3 versions

In my collection I have 3 different Motown 1455 - Pops, We Love You.

I have the M9-1455F which was red vinyl heart shaped limited edition with album size frame.

I also have the standard M1455 black vinyl normal Motown release with the vocal on the one side and the instrumental on the other side.

In addition, I also have a white label [not marked promo or DJ] green vinyl with vocals on both sides.

In my entire collection, I have not seen any green vinyls for any other 45s.

Does anyone know of any others issuances other than these two red and green ones?

This is what you get when Motown does get behind a song. There is also an excellent 12" disco mix.

Despite the powerhouse lineup and Motown's push, the song tanked. I love it, but I guess the lyrics were too maudlin.

it would be interesting to learn if this was Motown's only green vinyl promo. If so, I wonder why? Why was red so much more common?

Just a wild guess in search for an explanation for choosing it: .....perhaps green was Pops favorite color??

I had a HEART 12" heart shaped single of their release "WTF"....I also had a Paul McCartney kind of Bat shaped 10" I believe at one point...
In the early to mid 60's I remember seeing transparent yellow/gold and red LPs here and there...I have a few 12" singles from the 70's that are colored, but Opague...mostly Imports...and one great splatter looking one....it was said colored vinyl does not have the same fidelity or sound as good as standard black...
Today they are issuing some really beautiful colored pieces...these days I am too old and poor to start collecting for visual vibrancy...but I would love to have a rainbow collection of the newer vinyl!!!...these newer pressings get mixed reviews...of course, very high end equipment helps....and many of these very young "I never had a record before" kids are splurging on pretty nice turntables and amps....Bravo for the return of records.

you know a record's a piece o' crap when every special trick like these .... and discofication [!!] and by an all-star cast .... fails to attract.

How ironic of you to say that. Just this afternoon I visited a brand new Barnes and Noble Book Store and was just glancing at the music section that they have. I randomly went through what was available and the least expensive one was $29.99 and I actually several for over $40.00.

You have to be a millionaire virtually today to pay these kind of prices. I can remember when albums sold for $5.98 and 45s sold for 79 cents. And look at the recordings that were available then vs. now. Todays are virtually of no interest to me whatsoever.

Just a thought on the comment about vinyl.
