What do we know about a singer named Marion Jarvis?

My local radio station has a Soul Power Lunch Hour that I listen to every chance I get. Today they played a song that they feature often and I was curious to know what you folks know or think about it.

The singer is Marion Jarvis and the song is titled "Hell of a Fix." While it was playing, I researched it on Discogs and according to their database, it was her one and only 45. It was released in 1973 on the Roxbury label.

That surprises me because she has an awesome voice and it is a very well-written and produced song. The theme is typical other woman fare, as she laments the pain of loving a married man.

Since I only heard it on the radio, I cannot link it for you, but I am just betting that one of you will have it on here in no time. If so, I will be interested in seeing if any of you agree that this was a talented soul sister who certainly deserved more than one 45.

I've never heard of Marion Jarvis before, however, her song "Hell Of A Fix" is a very good slice of mid '70s Soul. With it's 'other woman' storyline, "Hell Of A Fix" reminds me of Shirley Brown's "Woman To Woman" & Millie Jackson's remake of "If Loving You Is Wrong [I Don't Want To Be Right]". I agree that she deserved to have a hit with this song and to have more than one single released. Good Catch Dave!

I turned up another single that Marion Jarvis made for Roxbury on the Discogs site & YouTube, "A Penny For Your Thoughts"/"A Good Man To Wake Up To". PS; "A Penny For Your Thoughts" would be remade by Tavares in 1982 and would be their last major hit [at #33 Pop/ #16 R&B in USA according to Billboard].
