UK's RSG Motown Special TV Show

The Ready Steady Go [[RSG) Motown Special was a magical TV show. I know we were all sat in front of the box ahead of time waiting to watch it [[April 65).
It was a great pity that, though it was shot ahead of the Motown tours UK shows, it wasn't actually broadcast till after the tour finished. It had been screened as a live TV show, I'm sure all the UK live shows would have been much better attended.
    . . . . . . . . ANYWAY, that's by the by ...
I never realised that BG bought the world wide rights to the show off the UK TV company at the time.
Was the RSG special actually shown anywhere outside of the UK back then ?

Not sure that is right I thought Dave Clark [[of the Dave Clark 5) owned it - certainly until a short while ago .

In Adam White's "West Grand Blog" of September 18, 2020, he talks about this issue and a book by Andy Neill about Ready Steady Go. In terms of the tapes, Adam says this:

"Ready Steady Go! The Weekend Starts Here records the fate suffered by tapes of the weekly programme – many were wiped for reuse at the time – and by those that remained, which were later bought by Dave Clark in partnership with EMI. The latter’s PMI video unit released the material on VHS during the 1980s, including The Sound of Motown, but it has never been on DVD. Two years ago, BMG acquired the RSG! assets, its brand name included. If the company has plans for the renewed availability of the show’s footage, it has announced nothing specific yet."

But I understood jsmith's post related to broadcast it worldwide back in the day rather than as an ongoing thing. An interesting snippet nonetheless if true.

I picked up The Sounds of Motown when it first came out on VHS back 1985. And it's long overdue for a DVD or Blu-Ray release [at the very least, BMG should make the show available for streaming].

Yes as stated...broadcasting the show after the tour was madness

I had my VHS transferred to DVD years ago.

Here is the show twice as one version is longer. I think that the running order has been messed with!

I bought the VHS in 1985 & one of the first guests at my house to view it was Martha Reeves. We had so much fun that night, dinner & plenty of wine, with my family & Martha. I think I do have it now on DVD.

Motony, I wish you had a DVD recording of Martha spending the evening with you and your family!
