Question on Four Tops Hip O Select releases

I have a question that someone might be able to give me some insight into.

There are two excellent CD collections released by Hip O Select on the Four Tops. In 2001 Fourever was released which consists of 4 CDs and a total of 85 songs on the 4 discs. I have this in my collection. On discogs it can be bought for around $45.

There is another excellent CD collection also released by Hip O Select. In 2013 the release consisted of 3 CDs and a total of 78 songs. I have been on the lookout for this 50th Anniversary release. On discogs it can only be found in the UK for rough $200 and there are only 2 for sale from the UK.

Does anyone have any insight into why there is such a radical difference in price between the Fourever and the 50th Anniversary availability. As far as I know it was released in the US as well.

The number of songs is nearly identical. I did not criss cross to see what was included vs. what was not included.

Any opinions on this subject? Thank you.

It may be due to the availablity of the two Four Tops collections. It sounds like Fourever is not as in-demand on Discogs as the 50th Anniversary-The Singles Collection for some reason.

Looking over the contents of both collections, Fourever is the career spanning collection with tracks from the various labels The Four Tops recorded for and the 50th Anniversary Collection is only the complete A & B-sides the Tops recorded for Motown [along with foreign language versions of some of their hits]. That may account for the difference in price between the two set on Discogs as well.

The 50th Anniversary Singles Collection was a limited edition set as were similar sets by Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, The Temptations and Diana Ross and The Supremes.

Oddly, on Amazon UK, seemingly you can download the 50th Anniversary Singles Collection in mp3 format for just £14.99 [[to buy as a collectible on Amazon costs £295.00). To download Fourever would cost £83.49 and to buy would cost you a whopping £204.65.

Additionally you can download the 41 tracks from the equally rare double CD set Lost Without You - Motown Lost and Found for £12.99.

All pretty confusing. Glad I bought 'em when I did.
