This news is so sad as Duke had only announced this retirement a few days ago. All 4 are now reunited in the heavenly Motown choir. RIP

Sad sad news today.....Duke was a super nice man, so humble to meet in person. I told him I was honored to meet him, he replied "I'm honored to meet you". He was so appreciate of the Motown fans.
Now the Four Tops are all together again.

A friend of mine called just now with this bad news. Geez, he passed just two days after announcing his retirement. I met him several times. A VERY nice man. RIP Duke.

R.I.P …. So so sad but warming to know the Tops are all together again… so sad.
Rest In Peace Abdul 'Duke' Fakir. Thank you for the music.
I'm crushed. He didn't even get the chance to bask in his retirement. Thank you for the music, Duke...enjoy your rest.
This is so sad. [Sigh]. Rest in peace, Duke.
I also am shocked to learn this just after he announced his retirement. Look at it this way. Duke got to live his entire life doing what he loved. And he had a good long ride. I´m sorry I never got to meet the guy. Rest well Duke. You made this crazy world a better place.
Sad news indeed.
Rest in harmony with your brothers Duke.
Hi John!
Please have a look at my review of the book:

The last of the Four, we miss them all, God bless them!
I was with them for over an hour after the concert in Wolverhampton, from Memory it was 1998?. They never stopped laughing, I couldn't stop crying.
The Four Tops was always my all time favourites. The Final one R.I.P. Duke!
PS: Edwin was also brilliant, for the exact same concert. I also met him several times, He lived in Pooley Hall Farmhouse Lane, Polesworth. Just off the M42 Motorway.

Very sad news. Trough their Reach out album I got to know them and later discovered they released already a few classic albums before that.

The Second Disc.com Remembers Abdul 'Duke' Fakir.
In Memoriam: Abdul "Duke" Fakir of the Four Tops [1935-2024] - The Second Disc
Sadly, the end of yet another Motown era. RIP, Duke. You and The Tops are once again Four.
I would see Duke in the neighborhood party store, he would play the state lottery. It amused me that one of the 4 Tops would be playing the lottery, so I asked him why was he playing the lottery. He said he was betting on winning big so that he could retire and live a carefree life. Of course when he said that, the whole store roared with laughter and we all said "no no, you can't retire"!!! The whole neighborhood knew who he was and he was so friendly with everyone.
R.I.P. "Duke". It was good to read that he was still performing up until weeks before his passing. He must have absolutely loved performing.
I remember first hearing "Reach Out..." by the Four Tops on Radio Luxembourg when I was 14 and probably started my love of Motown.
I haven't heard any, but did Duke ever lead on any of the Four Tops recordings?
