15 Best Disco Songs of All Time

This guy Samuel Moore, seems to put out some kind of Best List every other week. Last one was Best Motown and this week it is Best Disco Songs of All Time. If the definition of All Time is Timeless, then I agree with him. I still like all these songs, whereas a lot of the stuff that i used to like in disco era is now just a repetitive boring beat. Not criticism, just a part of getting old. His list does include a couple of my favorites, but not my two favorites, which are Native New Yorker by Odysey and Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band - Cherchez La Femme

As we would expect there are wide variations with this survey as well. Very few on his list appeal to me. The few that come to mind for me would be:

Doctor's Orders- Carol Douglas

Ain't Nothin' Goin' On But the Rent- Gwen Guthrie

Don't Give it Up- Linda Clifford [[the long version of course!)

On and On and On-ABBA [[How that was not a major hit I will never know)

Native New Yorker- Odyssey [[Sorry but I had left that off until I saw the previous poster's addition, which made me think "Oh but of course!!!") I also loved Down Boy by them.

70s Disco is my second favorite music genre after Motown. Here on Cape Cod The Boatslip Resort in Provincetown has a daily afternoon Tea Dance in the summer. On Thursdays, with some exceptions, the theme is 70s Disco. I have already been a few times this year and plan to go tomorrow. I can’t wait. I always have a great time, with or without alcohol!

Here are some of my all-time favorites. They are mostly from the late 70s. I am on vacation so I don’t have my records or CDs handy, nor my Billboard Disco chart book for reference. I particularly love vintage disco from the early to mid-70s. When I get home I might make a list of my favorites from the early disco era.
