Motown acts started playing the top Miami Beach hotels towards the end of the 1960's. Ahead of then, they'd played local black clubs or big arenas not connected to the beach hotels.
It is documented that at the time & for a good few years afterwards, though they were the star performers in the hotel's show rooms / night clubs, they weren't allowed to actually have a room at the hotels, stay there overnight or even eat in their dining rooms.
Acts such as the Temptations [[& it's members) had to travel across to the black part of the city to get food, sleep, drink, etc.
Has it been documented anywhere, what they though of this awful policy ?
