Susan Backlinie, first victim in 'Jaws' film, dead at 77 [[msn.com)

I was living in Miami when the movie "Jaws" came out. I had been doing a lot
snorkeling in the Keys and was getting ready to get certified in scuba diving.
I saw "Jaws"....and I never went back in the ocean again!! I sold all my snorkeling
equipment and was afraid of even going in the pool...even toilets looked suspicious!

That same year there was a bad shark attack in Dayton Beach. Some college
kid was sitting on a raft in about 4 ft. of water and a bull shark took his leg off.
