I'd bet that the record's producer, Jackey Beavers [[Of Johnny & Jackey fame), was co-owner, as his own music company, Jabee Music, published the songs. His co-owner partner likely was the money man [[financier). "Dar" Darlene? and "Cha" Charles, Charley, Charmaine, Chad? - Beavers' daughters had names that don't fit with Dar and Cha, and neither does that of his wife or nieces. "Cha" was used by Charles Stokes, co-owner of Master Recording Co. with Ronald Holmes, and co-owner of Master/Mas-Ter Records, Mas-Tok, Cha-Tok, and several others, a few using "Cha" to represent Charles. I think he may have been one of 2 partners in DarCha Records. Clearly, Beavers was its producer, and A&R man, who ran the tiny label. Maybe he got the music publishing rights in lieu of a salary, for his participation, because he didn't have cash needed to help pay for their start-up costs, and the recording, pressing of DJ issues, and press runs of the commercial issues. I'd like to find out what the "Dar" represented.

Over the years we've asked hundreds of 1960s Detroit music industry people, and the big-time Detroit Soul record collectors, and even our own master researcher, Graham Finch, hasn't been able to find out anything more about DarCha records than shows up on the record, itself. I don't remember ever seeing a blurb on Billboard announcing the founding of the label. Maybe doing a search of Billboard's articles for anything on DarCha would be your best bet. Otherwise, we'd need to contact Jackey Beavers' children to find out if he left any company papers in a box that was kept all these years by one of them. Not likely I'd wager. Graham may well have tried that years ago.
