Tina Turner-Seventies Solo Albums Now Available for Streaming/Download

    From SecondDisc.com-

Hot on the heels of a new career-spanning compilation, the late Queen of Rock gets honored in an extra special way with the digital debuts of four rare solo albums, recorded well before her incredible comeback with 1984's Private Dancer. Tina Turns the Country On! [1974] and Acid Queen [1975] were extraordinarily eclectic affairs that included covers of The Who [following her appearance as the Acid Queen in the band's film adaptation of Tommy], The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, Dolly Parton and others - plus some of her final recordings with Ike Turner before she left him following years of abuse. Her first post-Ike album, 1978's Rough, featured covers of Elton John ["The Bitch is Back"] and Willie Nelson ["Funny How Time Slips Away"], while 1979's Love Explosion, never released in the U.S., leaned into disco originals and a few soulful covers like The O'Jays' "Back Stabbers." A crucial chapter of Tina's unique story is now unlocked for even more to enjoy!

    This is good news.

I bought a cd of LOVE EXPLOSION while vacationing in Europe back in 1992. On that same trip, I stupidly passed up a used vinyl copy because I figured I didn't need it. I'm glad to be able to finally get it, all these years later. Hell, I'll probably spring for all the other cds/vinyls as well.

And here's the news about Tina Turner's first four solo albums coming to CD & Vinyl from the SecondDisc.com:

A half-century after her solo career began, the late, great Tina Turner's earliest albums will come back into print this fall - including the premiere CD release of her first solo album.

Rhino, who digitally reissued Tina's four solo albums for United Artists last year, will press Tina Turns the Country On! [1974], Acid Queen [1975], Rough [1978] and Love Explosion [1979] on CD and vinyl. It's the first time the latter three have been in print in more than 20 years. The LP of Tina Turns the Country On! - marketed as a 50th anniversary pressing - is a half-speed master by John Webber at AIR Studios in London, pressed on 180-gram vinyl. All titles will be available on November 15.

Thanks Motown Eddie for the details on the Tina reissues!

Acid Queen is one of my favourite albums of hers, period. I've also been wanting to find a decent copy of Tina Turns The Country On for the longest while. Though I have decent copies of Rough and Love Explosion, I've only ever come across cheaply done reissues of the latter, so it'll be nice to hopefully have some good reissues of all of these albums at last.
