    Shaun Murphy { Stoney}

Soulful Detroit's own Shaun Murphy has a new album ready to drop. Release date isn't until the first week of June, but autographed albums are now available. Lets all wish this extremely talented singer all the best with this new offering.

Since I am not the producer on this offering, it is fair for me to give a review. In all honesty, I am blown away. Shaun is at the top of her game on this one. Brilliantly supported by top notch production and sound , and some of the most BAD ASS players on the planet. Do yourself a favor and pick this gem up. In the past I have reverted so many times calling Shaun, Stoney. I guess some things from the past seem to hang with me for a while, and because it was good, they are hard for me to let go of. In my mind, the metamorphosis is completed and Stoney is nobody but Shaun Murphy, period, slam dunk, all the way.

Hello Shaun Murphy I hope this finds you well.

I've been obsessing a tad lately with the movie ENDLESS LOVE which features Diana Ross and Lionel Richie's theme song for it.

They don't sing the song in the movie [they are just heard over the closing credits,] however the song is performed in the movie by Jamie Bernstein, who pretends to be singing on camera to a version that's actually sung by Sheila Chambers.
In snooping around to find out more about her, this turns up in wiki:

In 1972–1973, while Teegarden toured with Bob Seger, Knape put his own full band together consisting of horns and female vocals. Sheila "Shea" Chambers and Shaun Murphy [also known as Stoney Reese] were vocalists in Knape's band,
Just curious if you two became and stayed friends as a result and if you kept in touch during this time of '80-'81. If so maybe you can shed some light on the subject?
For instance, since it's Shea doing the actual singing, why didn't they just visually use her as the singer in the movie?
How did her version come about? Did it have anything to do with Lionel Richie?
Why was Sheila's version not included on the movie's soundtrack?

Hope you see this and can possibly shed some light, on this and anything else related, if you so desire ...

    ....thank you!

    Thanks Ralph!

I see Shea Chambers is quite active currently with booked performances so it would be nice to learn they've kept in touch through the years.

YES!! I keep in touch with Shea all the time. I am thrilled she's been doing so well all these years! She's alway been one of my favorite Detroit singers, and a great friend.....

  12. Thanks for getting in touch, Ralph......XXOO!!

  13. Thanks for asking! I worked with Skip in the mid to late 70's but had to leave to start work with Seger. However, fortunately, Shea Chambers took my place, I have to say, she was a great asset to the band....what a marvelous voice she has!!! We've been friends ever since.....

  14. Thank you, my friend....I so appreciate your words.....someday, we gotta meet up in person again and chew the fat!!!! XXOO

Shaun, if you´re still looking in, since your ¨I´m Coming Home¨release, which I feel is some of your finest work, do you have anything new coming out?
