Wow, only just finished an hour ago refreshing myself with all his work with The Delfonics/ Delphonics, Stylistics, Spinners, New York City etc etc. I was reading all about Bobby Eli on the archived SDF and it took me to Thom. He seems to have been not only a hugely talented musician / arranger / composer/ producer and innovative talent but also a thoroughly nice individual. RIP

Such sad news so close to Christmas. Another key component of the Philly Soul sound has left us. I’m sure Linda Creed is ecstatic to have her “Old Friend” with her in paradise.

Awful News! As we know, Thom Bell was one of the Three Pillars of the Great Philly Soul Sound during the '70s and he'll always be one of my favorite Producers of the Soul Era. Rest In Music, Power & Peace Thom.

So sad that we've lost another one of the finest architects of the sonic structure of our lives. Rest in melody; well done.

Sad news, such a talented man. Soon after the sad news of Joe Tarsia's passing.
May you both rest in peace.

Man! Thom along with Bobby Martin are two of the names I learned by reading the record labels and the back of albums as a teen. Their arrangements for the Delfonics, The Intruders, Archie Bell & The Drells and the Stylistics amongst others, to this day still amazes me. Sorry to hear he's gone. I would like to see his obit if someone gets a hold of one. I hope Kenny gets that documentary and hopefully a book out about TSOP. Anyone know if his wife and brother are still living?

    Hi!

Thom Bell [[in 2003): "I had a talk the other day of putting James Ingram and Patti LaBelle together, but you have to find a company that's as enthusiastic as you. I also got a call about working with the Isley Brothers, and also Boyz II Men."

In that interview he also added that "I told my wife one day that I want to write a book, and the name is 'Things that I thought I saw, people I thought I knew.'"

    Best regards
    Heikki
