Older Black Singers Still Alive Be

Because I am so old, I refuse to call the people on this list old, especially since some of them are younger than me

Interesting list, but what fascinated me was this beautiful collage

To that list, I'd like to add William Bell & Darlene Love [both are still active in their 80's and putting out new music as well].

Harold Winley, bass singer for the Clovers, was born May 13, 1933. That makes him 89 years old.

Being that this is Soulful DETROIT, and no one has mentioned her, Bettye LaVette is going to be 77 years old, and is still making records that matter. She has had 5 of her 21st Century albums nominated for Grammy Awards. Just sayin...

Not soul singers, but Grace Bumbry, Martina Arroyo, and, arguably the greatest voice of the 20th century, 95-year-old Leontyne Price.

My local paper publishes celebrity birthdays each day and they have jazz singer Cleo Laine turning 95 today. That would make her one of the oldest in this discussion.

    David Porter.

Not a singer and white, but I think Jim Stewart is well worth a mention.

Privileged to see William in UK a few years ago, still has an amazing voice.
