My fave Rare Earth jam of all time.

You should ask Ralph about them. If you don't already know, you will be in for a surprise. Trust me on this one.

Right Here! I Love Rare Earth and my favorites by them include "[I Know] I'm Losing You", "Born To Wander", "I Just Want To Celebrate" & "Get Ready" [the 21 minute LP version].

Rare Earth is one of my favorite Motown groups, too. Pete Rivera's voice is hot, and their special brand of rock is soulful.

Before they were Rare Earth they were the Suliners. Does anyone in the pic look familiar?

Yes; I recognize Pete Rivera in the 2nd position from the left in the back row.

I can understand that Ralph but you've had an amazing musical legacy surrounded by some of the best in the biz. That should always bring a smile to your face!

Here's one of their early 45's as The Sunliners.

I quite like "I Just Cried" but generally, sadly, I don't "get" Rare Earth. May be a British thing but I struggle with their music. Similarly Teena Marie also leaves me cold. Sorry.

Don't ever apologize for voicing your honest take on music, especially when it's done so nicely.

The intro to Rare Earth's Get Ready sucked me in from the very beginning and Pete Rivera on the drums blew me away, I've been a fan every since. If I'm not mistaken, their version outsold the Tempt's.

Wow, Teena Marie, now that one threw me for a loop but I'm not and never will be a Johnny Mathis fan and I'm sure that rubs a lot of people the wrong way. To each their own I say. cheers

Here's another favorite of mine by Rare Earth, "Child Of Fortune/One World" from the Generation soundtrack LP.

Only human, Mr. Ralph. But remember that your contributions to the music that the world loves is experienced every day, even by those who don't know your name. In fact I thought of you several times during Diana's performance at Radio City NYC last month and during a recent conversation with 20-somethings at a local brewery where classic R&B is sometimes played. Legacy does not [unfortunately!) escape anyone from feelings.

PS: Tom - I've always loved Rare Earth.
