I'm looking forward to seeing this. I really enjoyed the Lifetime movie last year with Danielle Brooks, so it will be nice to view another take on Mahalia's life. Unfortunately, I do not have Hulu but I'm sure a dvd release will happen eventually.

I didn't even know about this one. I am so pleased that Mahalia gets two well-made biopics. I hope this one has a soundtrack.

So I watched this last night and, no spoilers, but I was underwhelmed. It was kind of an amateurish affair with operatic aspirations [what with the actors mawkishly breaking out into song at key moments]. Ledisi did the best she could with the muddle of a production that it was. I did not know that it was directed by the recently deceased actor Denise Dowse. I much prefer the Danielle Brooks-led Lifetime movie, which had its problems as well. Just my two cents.

I completely agree. I was totally underwhelmed with this movie, Ledisi sounded like Ledisi. I haven't seen the Danielle Brooks movie but I will be watching it next week.
