That was their big hit in France, didn't you know? Just kidding. God only knows who Veronica was, but... it's a quick, 22-second clip of the Girls identifying themselves like they would for a radio promo and then launching into singing Happy Birthday to this Veronica. Cute harmony, too.

Perhaps she was someone's daughter. The fact that they introduce themselves like they did around 1965-66 for radio promos gives the impression this was not in the studio or on stage, but into a portable recorder on the fly. "And one last thing before you go, could you possibly wish my daughter happy birthday?"

Paul, that was my thought as well.

Did some searching and found a website with all the jingles and "novelty" music the offshore radio stations used:

    https://www.icce.rug.nl/~soundscapes...D/ZZD_5S.shtml

Lots of Motown, but the Supremes seem never to wish Radio Veronica happy birthday.

For those unknown to the term "offshore radio":

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offshore_radio

Especially for the Netherlands, the licensed, national radio was primarily aimed at an older audience, Motown, with special thanks to the late Pete Felleman made sure Motown was well represented on the off shore radio stations, mainly broadcasting towards a younger audience.
