DR coming to Ocean Casino in Atlantic City

Friday, September 9, DR concert in the ultra-fabulous Ocean Casino in Atlantic City. Beyoncé opened the showroom several years ago. It is a great venue, and cheaper ticket prices than the tix in NYC later that week.

You are right. That is off topic. Perhaps even a little more than slightly But a pleasant dream. Did you come back a winner?

I haven't been to Atlantic City in several years. Is this casino a new one or just one that underwent a remodeling or name change?

Ocean Casino Resort is the newest casino in Atlantic City. It opened as Revel, but changed ownership and is now Ocean. I just got back from a week there, and it is the most magnificent hotel I have ever been to. And, I have been to many. It has upwards of a thousand room and is often sold out. It is very close to Hard Rock Hotel which is also great. DR tickets go on sale tomorrow.

Thanks. I thought it might be the same as the original Revel. Nice place but sooooo far away from the others. If you are walking the boardwalk, that is a hike! Since it sounds like you know the city, did anything ever happen with the old Trump Regency space? And also, last time I was there, there was an empty space just to the left of Boardwalk Hall as you were going south. Did anything ever happen there?

Yes, David, we go very often to Atlantic City and know it well.

The North end of the Boardwalk [[Resorts, Hard Rock, Showboat, Ocean, and the historic Steel Pier where the original Supremes played many times) is the happening area. Saturday night at Ocean cost $699 so you know there is money there, and is always sold out. [[If you book earlier, it is a bit cheaper.) The South end of the Boardwalk [[Claridges, Bally's, Caesars, and Tropicana) is a step down. But, those hotels are pumping hundreds of millions of dollars into them to compete.

There is so much free music at the Steel Pier and all the hotels. Most of it is awesome.

There are trams that run up and down the Boardwalk that make walking unnecessary. Trams cost $4 one-way or $10 all day.

We used to stay at Borgata in the Marina, but we now prefer the Boardwalk.

The old Trump Regency is vacant and the space next to Boardwalk Hall is still empty.

I am now at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City. Promo pics and videos of Diana Ross are playing throughout the hotel and casino promoting her upcoming show. She looks super in this video promotion.

Yes, it was a solid show.. every seat in the joint was sold. There was a Diana Ross look-alike contest before the show. Much energy in Atlantic City this weekend. There were billboards on the highway advertising Diana’s show, but it was sold out a couple weeks before the date. In Ocean Casino they had her pic on the tv screens with big red letters across it saying “sold out.”

At Resorts casino, they have on display Diana’s handprint and autograph in cement from her appearance there on August 20, 1980. She wrote in the cement, “Reach out and touch.”

Ross’ vocals were good. [[Could have been less Rhonda, IMHO.)
