Well, better news than unpaid. I hope the heirs are able to come to an equitable distribution of the remainder of the estate. It never, ever ceases to sadden me that even one offspring of our beloved performers is unable to provide for themselves.
I will probably be criticized for this but it’s so clear that Ms Franklin had a rough upbringing from the birth of children when she was still a child through to living on the road and no mother as most of us would understand life with a mother. It took it’s toll and her distress and anger showed through so clearly in her later years. Why she would not have a proper Will and why she would have left a lot of debt makes no sense.

I consider myself not "a", but "the" Aretha fan and I have to agree. There was always a degree of, dare I say, paranoia about Aretha's dealings in general but to not have a will was just senseless. We'll all hope that the estate does not dissolve into nothing over legal wranglings between the survivors.
