She was good and looked good. Her youthful energy is gone, but understandable. I don’t think the huge earnings were needed. Great dress.

I enjoyed Diana's performance. It'll be interesting to see if ABC edits any of her songs out for the presentation tonight.

    She performed:
    Chain Reaction
    Thank You [[with vocal support)
    Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Overall the concert was faboulus. Diana had a new dress, sounded live great and I enjoyed it. As many in the UK probably did.

Diana Ross joyfully performed for the crowd these songs at The Queen's Jubilee Concert: "Chain Reaction", "Thank You" and "Ain't No Mountain Enough" Her voice was superb and she engaged the crowd to have fun. Awesome Command Performance by Diana Ross. BRAVO!!!!!

I think that was fantastic! Putting my political feelings about the monarchy aside , I thought that was a great performance and a very fitting tribute, including and especially "Thank You"!

I am buzzing for my Diana concert now!!!!!

The concert as a whole was absolutely amazing. She had a tough job being the showstopper after so many incredible performances. But Diana's voice was on fine form. Only fail was her microphone being set too low at the start, and she can be seen adjusting it with a gadget attached to her hip. 'Chain reaction' is a firm favourite in Britain. 'Thank you' was a perfect choice and 'Mountain' sent shivers down the spine. The orchestra was beautiful. It's s shame she only got 3 songs in as she seemed to be hitting her stride by the last song. Overall it was magical to see our Diva here again after too many years.

I really enjoyed the entire concert, with Diana looking every inch the music royalty she is.
I thought the crowd looked a little bemused when she started performing “Thank You”, probably expecting “Upside Down” or a Supremes hit. Interesting that she was singing along to the recording. Has she still not learnt the lyrics?.
Overall a very good showing for a lady heading for 80. The UK reviews of Diana’s performance have been really positive this morning, with the only confusion being why was an American performer closing out a show that was a tribute to British monarchy.
Personally I’m delighted it was. Great promotion for her upcoming UK concerts.

Personally not too sure about the dress - I thought it was maybe to disguise the fact she's put on weight?

But our girl did well - great choice of songs and Diana in fine voice although it was obvious the audience was perplexed by Thank You.

It's so funny though but it confirms what I have thought for some time now.

With Diana out of the limelight in the UK for over a decade now there are actually so many who don't know her [[yes seriously).

I'm in stitches at all those on Twitter demanding to know why she was covering a Steps' song at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Concert?

[[Steps is a British group who took a cover of Chain Reaction to #2 in the charts in 2001!)

Overall bodes really well for Glastonbury and the concerts hard to believe she's 78 - just hope she can pace herself.

Well, she didit! Chain Reaction, Thank You, Ain’t No Mountain.
With a lot ofsupport from her backing – including her own backing tape - she did sing liveand spoke extempore to the occasion. She was led/escorted to centre stage andremounted the flight of steps very gingerly. But the lady is 78 years old. We’reblessed to have her here.
A good choiceof songs for a short spot: a worldwide hit, a new release and an anthem. Such atreat to see and hear her and a deserved honour for Motown to headline such a prestigiousevent. We can all be happy, grateful and proud.

It was interesting that she closed the show, but she looked healthy for 78. She had microphone difficulties with Chain Reaction. Her recent Thank You seemed very appropriate for a concert celebrating Queen Elizabeth. Ain't No Mountain High Enough seemed to get the crowd going. Aside from her microphone being so low, there seemed to be lipsyncing and the music and background singers seemed so much louder than her. Still, I recognize this as another career achievement for someone who has had so many, many accolades in life. I was happy to have seen her.

Cowards …. If one isn’t up to the task then …
what a waste when you have a fantastic orchestra to sing with.

The US really lost out when hating The Bee Gees was more important than supporting a really good song. CHAIN REACTION sounds great here , if You’re going to pretend to be singing a song that was a good choice.

A pretty good performance although a lot of the vocals came from the background singers.

And - who the hell advised Miss Ross to wear that horrible outfit?

I have to admit that I was hoping for more, or better. I have to remind myself, in my dotage, that appearances like these are America and I need to be more appreciative and understanding. If she’s doing the best she can do, I love her for it. However, I do not believe that the gown she was wearing was the best she can do. I’m also surprised she couldn’t knock off 15 pounds for her tour. I like thank you very much but I don’t know that I would’ve chosen it, because it’s too hard to follow if you don’t know the lyrics. Perhaps they should have shown the lyrics across the big board of the audience could hear and see them. All of that being said, I am very thankful that we have her! She looks good, sounds good and the crowd seemed thrilled with chain reaction!

I'm not disagreeing that Diana looks fantastic. She's always going to give you DIVA! I'll be seeing her later this summer and can't wait.

But girl. Lip synching in a trash bag is so beneath her talent. Where are the sequins?

I fell in love with Diana Ross when we were both young and skinny. I have to accept what happens when we age, but I sure miss the young and skinny Diana
Ross. It is not quite the same thrill seeing her now.

I thought she did great and was a fitting closing for the concert. It seemed to end abruptly here on the U.S. West Coast being Diana one second and then the ABC drama "The Rookie" the next second.

I had a Facebook friend ask why she sang CHAIN REACTION. When I explained that it was a #1 hit in the UK, one of her biggest there, he still didn't seem to get it.

The abrupt ending also happened on the BBC feed although they at least had a final graphic with text. I was surprised that ABC didn't even bother with final credits. Because they were probably editing while the show was still taking place, I guess some things fell through the cracks.

I just relistened and heard Diana say something like I get excited when you touch me down there [or something meaning that ] in CHAIN REACTION . Maybe some of the resistance to the song for radio had to do with the content of unseemly lyrics. I’d never paid attention before.

An excellent performance all around. Something for everyone. Fans will be happy that the lady looked & sounded great [[despite the few lip sync errors), the uninitated will be impressed at the lady's talent, beauty and crowd appeal, and the 1/6-troll-toads will be wetting their pants over the lip sync. [[Surely they'll ignore that Cher has lip synced every concert for decades and Dolly P ls'd her entire Glastonbury perf but received international raves despite). There's a reason that Diana performed for the queen instead of any of her peers. Srsly - would Jean Terrell or Smokey have done better?

Nice reviews and it sounds like many or most of the performers sang with a backing track - maybe they were asked to in order to avoid troubles

I recently became aware that the avid fans are also the most critical because we know it all - and then of course there’s a few that are just plain bonkers one way or the other

On Facebook, someone posted that it might be BBC policy to request pre-recorded tracks. I have no idea if this is true but it wouldn't be surprising to have a safety in place for a live television event.

I often think most people are too embarrassed to be rude to an older lady like Diana - other than on these kinds of forums - and without Marv the worst of it’s gone; then we only have to cope with the few “in love”

It appears there really are only two two members of this forum who lack the maturity to cope with differing opinion. As such, they resort to insults and name calling such as toads, haters etc etc. Yea that one. The sycophant where anything short of a gushing tribute is an attack, with the insults a constant in the worst days of the forum.
Up till now, everyone on this thread has been polite and respectful, with the lip synching being discussed and the frock that some liked and others didn’t. Big deal.

Hopefully for Glastonbury and her summer tour Diana Ross won't have to try to navigate any stairs on stage. And if there are stairs, there's someone on stage who can assist her going up and down.

I was thinking of Maxine Powell as I was watching Diana Ross perform at The Queen's Jubilee. Ms.Powell said Diana Ross was dedicated. Ms. Powell told all her students that one day they would perform before Kings and Queens.
Awesome global event. Does anyone know the estimated size of the audience?
I have a deeper appreciation of the song, "Thank You". Diana Ross' Crown Jewels were delightful.
If Diana Ross had a Supremes Song in this act which would you have choosen?
"You Can't Hurry Love" is my choice.

I can't pick just one. If she had had more time, a short Supremes medley might have been nice.

With the abrupt ending I wondered how she got back up the steps gracefully and off stage.
The dress was a Health and Safety hazzard when she had to navigate the stairs.

Perhaps Evan came back out and assisted her again.

Does anyone know why she did not rehearse and or do a soundcheck?

Maybe she thought; "if its going to be a lip syncing thing, why bother". And when lip syncing you must know the words [[mostly), otherwise it's really pointless, so I hesitate to go with the "can's remember new lyrics". At many concerts you can see she uses monitors to show the text. I did not see one during this performance.

If it was not BBC's decision to lip sync "the elderly", I still wonder, why no rehearsal and soundcheck? If this is the new Diana Ross, also lip syncing during her upcoming tour, and yes I know, I visited many concerts in the early 2000 where she occasionally lip sync, but that was maybe a song or two max, is this the way she wil do her upcoming concerts?

Not being cynical and I really don't think she "owns" us fans anything, because she was being bossed around during her Motown years, she can do whatever the wants. It never takes away the respect and admiration for her achievements as a professional I will have for her.

Would I go to see to a lip syncing concerts? The Abba with Abbartars concerts seems to go well.

Oh, to add, most recent concerts of her newer shows you can never hear the true audio quality of a concert. Most are recorded with a telephone. In 2019 I was hesitant to see and hear Martha Reeves live, after the recent youtube clips. Live, in the room she really surprised me with her vocals in a very positive way.
