Lionel has been on a roll. I think he received a songwriters award recently. All his catalog has aged like fine wine.

Hate to be a Debbie Downer, Sans. But I lurv DoTC!! I know the words to every cut. Sorry. Fresh outta hs when it dropped. Wanted to impress my 1st adult chica, a southern belle catalog model. She was impressed! Thanks to Mr. Ritchie. DoTC still on my playlists.

Welp, there ya have it! To be clear, it’s the title cut only that I can’t stand, not the whole LP, which has oodles of great moments. It’s the only track of his that I hated at first listen. [I was still in high school myself.] Just commercialism run amuck. Still skip it today. But he certainly is long overdue for this honor; his overall body of work is indispensable [especially his early Commodores material].

Yeah, that Fred Astaire/Royal Wedding bit. Meh. Loved "Se La" and "Say You, Say Me," though.

"Hello" & "Stuck On You " are my favorite faves from Lionel's mighty pen. The "Hello" vid with the actress as a blind sculptor stuck with me forever!

Our R&B/Soul national treasure! Love him on AI too. Did you all see him give Re-Re's grand some honest, constructive criticism? The man is a uber beast! Whatever happened to the Commodores? Heard nothing else after Nightshift, which was a touching tribute to Motown and Soul legends. On my playlist now.
