    The Motown Box 2005

When this 4CD box set was released in 2005, I dismissed it on the grounds that I already had everyone of its 70+ tracks on other collections. However, it now transpires that over 30 of the titles are extended versions of the originals that have never been released elsewhere.
Do any forum members own this box set and is it the ‘must have’ collection that has been described on some on-line retail reviews?

Sounds a great boxset. Can I put out an appeal to forum members in US for details of any retailers who may have a copy of The Motown Box for sale. Ive exhausted all searches here in the UK. Thought I had bought a copy from Amazon but the seller no longer had the item for sale and should have been removed from the listing.
Any genuine offers would be appreciate.

This item is essential and also the 6 CD set "Motown Big Hits And More".These songs are different takes, versions and extentions. I hope that there are more to come as they only go up 1967.

I have thought about starting a thread about this CD set before! It is fantastic!!! Equally excellent for both the casual Motown fan and the Motown aficionado, as the CDs contain LOADS of hits [and some nicely chosen non-hits], many of which are in previously-unreleased extended STEREO versions!! And, a very nice box and booklet.

The “Motown Big Hits And More” set is now available with a 7th Disc containing 1970’s hits. Unfortunately for me, Treasurycollection.com do not ship outside the USA. Ant ideas how this can be purchased from the UK?

I have The Motown Box and I Love It! It's great to have the new stereo mixes [and extended versions] of The Classic Motown Hits. If you can find a copy on e-bay for a good price, Grab It!

Roger, does “Motown Big Hits And More” contain the fabulous extended 3:43 version of “Heatwave” and of the two box sets, which in your opinion is the better buy.

Just got a copy of “The Motown Box” from US EBay, $22.99 but a further $36 for shipping and import duty to the UK, works out at Ł47 at the current exchange rate. It’s in nearly new condition so happy to pay this, can’t wait for delivery.

Hi Paul, I only heard about this collection last week when I re-read the wonderful Motown Junkies review of “Heatwave”, my all time favourite Motown record. One contributor mentioned the extended version on “The Motown Box”, managed to hear a version on Spotify but just had to have a physical version of my own.
I have managed to purchase the box set today from Ebay USA and looking forward to listening to the 30+ other extended mixes and first-time stereo edits.

Masterblaster I have 3 versions of "Heatwave" Motown Box at 3.43. [[24mb), Gold at 3.45. [[26.4mb) and Big Hits And More 3.46. [[25.9 mb) and I like each of them so this a hard one for me to answer. The "Motown Box" is a really nice package and "Big Hits & More" are 6 separate discs. Get them both!

I just found a thread about the Motown Big Hits & More: https://soulfuldetroit.com/showthrea...-More-6-CD-Set

    TJ Lubinsky explains:

    * are alternate stereo mixes we originally created for the orignal Stereo Motown Box that were not ready for issue at the time, mainly for deadline issues back in 2005. Most are unique to this release, all done by Tom. Some were issued on our TJL /treasurycollection.com "Rock, Pop and Soul" CD set, but have been touched up a bit on this package.

** Are all new mixes made by TM, exclusively for this collection.

    hope this helps;

Forever absolutely was remixed by Tom Moulton - that was the first song he did for the set and the condition by which he agreed to do the others for The Stereo Motown Box.

We updated many [[but not all) but many of these mixes and additional songs for "Motown: Big Hits & More" available from treasurycollection.com - like The Isley Brothers "This Old Heart Of MIne" and many Tops tunes.

The ones that got away we hadn't done [[yet):
    - If You Can Want - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles [[extended)
    - It's A Good Feeling - The Miracles [[extended)
    - Keep On Loving Me - Frances Nero [[extended)
    - I've Got A Feeling - Four Tops [[extended)
    - I'll Turn To Stone - Four Tops [[extended)
    - Edwin Starr - Stop Her On Site [[extended)
    - Anyway You Wanta - Harvey
    and about two dozen others....

We also did an extended "It's A Shame" on the original "Superstars of 70s Soul" cd set [[from treasurycollection.com).

I haven't played my copy for a while but I remember Going To A Go-Go has a mixing problem where there are some aspects slightly out of synch. I think it's a slight delay on the backing vocal sections of "going to a go-go".

Wasn't this box set released as part of one of TJ Lubinsky's [[may have spelling wrong) PBS specials? I believe if someone pledged a certain amount to PBS or a PBS station when the special aired they would receive the box set in return?

I just purchased the set last night on ebay. If you check it out just beware: read the description closely because some of the listing are only for a single CD and not the entire set.

To be blunt, I'm getting this because out of all the years of buying any of the 300,000 Bazillion Motown compilations, this one for once, gives the Marvelettes a bit more representation instead of the same old "Postman Bill," "Postman Bill," "Postman Bill." It's always pissed me off that we never get things like "I'll Keep Holding On," "Danger Heartbreak Dead Ahead" or the beautiful "When You're Young And In Love."
