    The quality of Debbie Dean's early Motown recordings was very variable. I find "A New Girl" irresistible, but "I Cried All Night" is practically unlistenable.

    Debbie had a pre-Motown collaboration as the lead singer of a group recording for Berry Gordy in 1958:
