Motown recordings with a written ending [[no fade out).

Songs like the Isley's Behind a Painted Smile, Marvin's Mercy, Mercy, Me, Stevie's Sir Duke, The Supremes/Four Tops Love The One You're With...

Can you guys help me compile a list of anything Motown [[and of course, all the subsidiary labels) that has a written ending. Reason I'm asking for help is that I started presenting an hour-long MOTOWN MEMORIES show for www.CarolineFlashback.co.uk almost a year ago and it's always great to make the last track finish dead on the required 59:45 so I start at the end and work back [[if that makes any sense!). If anyone knows, they're gonna be on Soulful Detroit, right?

Trouble is, though I'm very well versed in the 60's/70's Supremes catalogue and all the big Motown hits, I'm starting to scratch my head to find songs that qualify. It doesn't have to be a hit [[I play a lot of obscure tracks) and I'll be extremely grateful to anyone that can assist me with this.

If you want to contact me direct it's ivyfield@gmail.com [[hope I'm not breaking any rules posting that) or I'll check back here.

    Thanks in advance

There's a version of Stop! In The Name of Love where the song ends on Stop! I think it was on their #1's collection.

...you could always end with this 'stop dead' ending from Marvin...

    Yesterday's Dreams- Four Tops

Also, you could do a pretty easy 'stop' at the end of the Four Tops' Bernadette after the last segment of the vocals "Oooooooo" just before Levi comes back in belting out the line, "Bernadette"

Most of our Tom Moulton mixes on my TJL/treasurycollection.com "Motown: Big Hits & More" have cold and extended ending as we did with "The STereo Motown Box" years ago. But the mixes are all updated.

And When We Grow Up from Free To Be You & Me is an important song, and a good lullaby to end a set, from the Diana Ross' catalog.

The reason for fades was that the recording level of a 45 drops like a rock after three minutes.

Great - and no prob with remixes - the rarer, the better! I have to edit down some because theyre too long for a radio show. I found a brilliant remix of Marvin's Grapevine from 1999. Playing that in a couple of weeks on my show.

I have just received the 6 CD set "Motown Big Hits And More" and I`m blown away with it! I ignored it at first because I wasn`t aware that the tracks were alternates I thought it was the same old songs again- silly me! There is 4.02mins. of "Mickey`s Monkey" and 3.46mins of "Heat Wave". The masters are mostly different to what we know. I like the version of "7. Rooms Of Gloom". If you missed it first time the do yourselves a favour and get it and that`s an order!
