I've said a lot [[a lot!) of times here that I care not for Lionel for whatever reason, admit that it's my loss, and think Richie is a great writer and performer. Yes, he deserves this honor and others. Lionel paid the dues, sang the bluez, and earned his place in showbiz hierarchy. Go, Lionel!

What do you guys think about Lionel's critique of Aretha's teen granddaughter's audition on Idol?

He was absolutely right. She probably expected to be a shoo-in on the strength of her bloodline alone. With work, she could be remarkable.

I agreed with him. She has a nice voice but she isn't ready to go to Hollywood. A year or two of more experience and she might be.

I just read where the Lionel Richie: The Library of Congress Prize for Popular Song airs Tuesday, May 17, at 9 PM on PBS. So, mark your calendars.
