JUST IN CASE by DIANA ROSS

Actually, my favorite song on the CD. At first I wondered who is she singing this for [[ her grandchild, son, daughter, or Bob) and why would they not know this as sings I love you and maybe you don't know this. I love this song and it made me think of Mary and Florence.

Yes definitely a keeper from the strings in the beginning to the smooth ending. Pure silk.

My favorite song on the album. Partly because the lyrics, unlike the other songs on Thank You, suggest that Love may not always be wonderful as this is a song, in part, about unrequited love. There's some complexity in the emotions and story of this song.

Your smile can always brighten up my day, mmhm
And your laugh can make my problems fade away, mmhm

    I love you
Maybe you don't know this and that's okay, mmhm
I'll be right here to say it over and over anyway
    Just in case

It's been in my heart for a while
Nothing seems to make me smile
    Like you do, you do

You don't know the joy you bring
    Nothing makes my heart sing
    Like you do, you do

    I love you
Maybe you don't know this and that's okay, okay
And I'll be right here to tell you over and over anyway
    Just in case

    Your eyes
Do you know how beautiful you are, you are?
    Don't change
Stay as perfect as you are, you are

Oh, it's been in my heart for a while
Nothing seems to make me smile
    Like you do, you do

You don't know the joy you bring
No one else makes my heart sing
    Like you do, you do

    I love you
Maybe you don't know this and that's okay
I'll be right here to tell you over and over again anyway
    Just in case

The strings definitely sound like they're by some sort of orchestra… in fact, I think I read somewhere that the London Symphony Orchestra did some of the strings on the album?

The liner notes say Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, also from London.

I love the track. The 'mmm hmm' is utterly gorgeous and perhaps my favorite moment on the lp. Perhaps the most honest and revealing vocal in Diana's vast recorded output.

I did a lot travelling over the Christmas period with the new album my constant companion. It’s become a familiar friend.
“Just In Case” is a lovely song, with Diana doing a great job in conveying it’s simple message.
I just wish we could have seen her on tv promoting a song from the “TY” album. Even if just a stand alone performance.

That would explain those beautiful strings I am hearing.
