"Midnight Johnnie" would have been a great addition to the High Energy album

Ever since I first heard each version of Midnight Johnny, I could hear Susaye wailing her way through this one. It would have been a disco classic!

Connie Haines' version sounds like an early track by Duffy [of "Mercy" and "Rockferry" fame]. The vocal style and inflections are strikingly similar.

Probably just one of many Motown, Soul and 60s pop influences that pop up on her classic Rockferry album.

Other overt references include "My Girl" by The Temptations and Marvin's "Grapevine".
